traditional moroccan zellige

We are pleased to introduce and offer you a traditional Zellige, which are one of the main characteristic of the architecture of Morocco and the Middle East. They are traditional glazed tiles with irregular surface. Traditionally used for creating very sophisticated and colorful mosaics, in contemporary use they adapt perfectly to modern decorative projects.

Zellige are unconsciously a symbol and a quintessence of the Arab art tradition and know-how in tile manufacture. They have been developing for centuries in their own cultural, artistic and handicraft tradition, and opposite to perfection, but also the monotony and sterility of tiles of the West, they show defects and imperfections, and by its spontaneity and authenticity they attract us. We accept their random defects gladly, caused either by man or nature, considering them rather a source of diversity and richness.
