Hand made terracotta tiles

Hand made production of terracotta tiles follows hundreds of years of traditional techniques. Every single tile is shaped by hand into wooden mold and air dryed in shelves for 6-8 weeks (depending on shape, size and weather conditions). Tiles are fired in ceramic furnace at high temperature. All the final surface treatments are applied individually by hand. As a result, you recieve charming and durable tile, of unique qualities and easy maintenance.

Due to the local material resources and classic colour shades, Tuscan hand made terracotta is commonly used for historical renovations, but works quite well in contemporary projects, residential or public.

Most frequently used formats: 5x28 / 7x28 / 12,5x25 / 14x28 / 15x30 / 18x36 / 10x10 / 15x15 / 19x19 / 25x25 / 30x30 cm (and even larger), hexagons, plinths, staircase elements, etc. Thickness: mostly 1,8 or 2,5 cm.

Terracotta tiles quite similar to traditional ones, except for the colour - medieval terracotta has unique sand-like colour shade due to the pre-firing process (tiles are sprinkled with ash). The ancient appearance and irregular edges makes it a perfect match for historically valuable environments, reconstruction / restoration of historic buildings. The subtle yellowish tint of these terracotta tiles is achieved by mixing two types of clay. The surface is rough and varies in color with a characteristic patina.
